Psychology
It is a science that promotes well-being, emotional balance and mental health, as it supports the improvement or overcoming of emotional states and psychological disorders, with symptoms that negatively affect personal, professional, or social life. Examples include anxiety, phobias, depression, grief, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sleep disturbances, among others. Also, it provides support to those who aim to develop skills and create positive transformations.
The scientific study of how the human mind works helps us understand our unique characteristics (idiosyncrasies) and our biopsychosocial nature. It helps clarify the client’s current situation and facilitate positive changes in beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. These changes gradually open the door to an increasingly fulfilling reality and a general sense of well-being, with lasting positive effects.

By understanding the relationship between beliefs/thoughts, emotions/feelings, and behaviours, this guided process promotes client empowerment. It values the individual’s capacity to find appropriate solutions to their challenges and to implement changes towards psychological well-being.
To maximise the beneficial effects of psychology sessions, I use cognitive-behavioural therapy as well as methods and techniques from other psychological approaches. These include Positive Psychology, Psychological Coaching, Active Psychotherapies, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and the Humanistic, Constructivist, and Person-Centred approaches.
Coaching
Psychological Coaching is a specialised area within Psychology, which does not constitute psychotherapy and is practised exclusively by Psychologists. It is a methodology that promotes well-being by supporting the client in making positive changes. The process begins with defining the client’s goals and understanding the current reality. From there, action is planned and carried out to achieve and sustain those goals. To support this journey of growth and achievement, the approach also focuses on identifying and developing valuable skills and internal resources.

Hypnotherapy
It’s a therapeutic approach that uses hypnosis as a tool to promote positive change in the client’s life. The hypnotic trance is a natural state of deep relaxation and focused attention, similar to what we experience when we are completely absorbed in a film or a thought. This expanded state of awareness allows access to the unconscious mind, where many of our beliefs, automatic patterns, memories, and emotions are stored, all of which influence our behaviour and overall well-being. Through this process, it becomes possible to release inner blocks and trigger deep, lasting positive transformations. Throughout the session, the person remains fully conscious, safe and in control of their experience.

SAGEmpower offers Clinical and Regressive Hypnotherapy sessions. Clinical Hypnotherapy is present-focused and goal-oriented and it is applied to relieve symptoms and change mental or behavioural patterns. Regressive Hypnotherapy, on the other hand, aims to access past memories that may be at the root of current blocks, symptoms, or repetitive patterns. The goal is to reduce or eliminate these through understanding, reframing, and releasing emotions or beliefs associated with those memories, which continue to influence the person’s present life on an unconscious level. Regression is a safe, guided process, and only memories that the mind is ready to explore will emerge.
Indications and Session Frequency:
Hypnotherapy helps individuals access their often-dormant internal resources and regain emotional balance. It typically requires 4 to 6 sessions, every three weeks, though this may vary depending on the unique needs of each case. This brief therapy is particularly helpful in addressing anxiety and stress, depression, phobias and fears, sadness, grief and trauma, improving self-confidence, self-esteem and interpersonal relationships, preparation for exams, presentations or professional challenges.
Note: Hypnotherapy is a valuable tool for strengthening internal resources and supporting emotional and personal development. It can be used as a complementary approach, but does not replace medical or psychological care when such support is required.
The sessions (psychology, coaching and hypnotherapy) are online, in English or Portuguese, via video call on a secure platform, making it possible to establish contact from anywhere in the world. When you schedule your session, you will receive a link to access the video call; simply click it to join at the scheduled date and time.
You also need to have access to a computer or other electronic device with stable internet and also headphones/earphones and microphone (if necessary). During the consultation, you will need to be in a private space where you cannot be overheard and make sure you are alone and free from interruptions. Each session represents a safe space, ensuring unconditional acceptance, non judgment, informed consent, privacy and confidentiality.
